Circular Ocean Infographic Poster for Ocean Decade Conference, Barcelona
CLIENT: Peniche Ocean Watch
DATE: April 2024
TYPE: poster infographic
DESCRIPTION:
A large-scale infographic poster (100 × 70 cm), created for and exhibited at the UN Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona, April 2024. This comprehensive design visualizes the vision and objectives of Circular Ocean — a pioneering initiative committed to reducing marine pollution, promoting the blue economy, and building a circular, sustainable future for our oceans.
Commissioned by Peniche Ocean Watch, the infographic highlights key actions and system flows of recycling ocean plastics, with a special focus on discarded fishing nets — one of the most harmful forms of marine waste.
After its life at the conference, the poster has found a new home in the Peniche Ocean Watch “warehouse” — located right by the Atlantic Ocean in the coastal town of Peniche, Portugal. A place deeply connected to the sea, Peniche is known for its rich fishing traditions, rugged coastline, and thriving surf culture — a fitting backdrop for forward-looking ocean solutions.

In early March 2024, I visited the company’s site in Peniche, where team member Afonso guided me through the process of transforming ghost nets into sustainable, functional products. You can watch the behind-the-scenes video here:
